Other Funding Sources

Outside Fellowships/Scholarships

Some graduate students qualify for outside funding from national organizations, local civic groups and foundations of many types. The Financial Aid Office will assist with processing the funding you bring from outside sources.

If you have obtained outside funding, you should instruct the funding agency to make checks payable to Stanford University and mail them to:

Billing Needs

If your funding agency requires billing from Stanford, you should ask them to complete a Third Party Contract Agreement (PDF) and submit it to Stanford’s Student Financial Services office by their quarterly deadlines.

Graduate Student Aid Fund

The Graduate Student Aid Fund has been established to assist graduate students with University fees in 2009-2010.  The fund aims to reduce financial concerns for students experiencing hardships.  Students who demonstrate need will be eligible for up to $167 per quarter from this fund.  For more detailed information and application procedures please refer to the Graduate Student Aid Fund (PDF) instructions and application form.

Emergency Grant-In-Aid Funds

Emergency Grant-in-Aid Funds assist graduate students who experience a financial emergency or unanticipated expenses (e.g., medical, dental, or legal) causing financial hardship. This program is designed to assist those who cannot reasonably resolve their financial difficulty through fellowships or loans.  For more detailed information and application procedures please refer to the Emergency Grant-In-Aid (PDF) instructions and application form.
